This rare later Paterson capper #175 (Rapley C4) with lanyard ring at the top has on the lid in high releif, a Colt with its hind legs on an artists interpretation of a Paterson rifle, above crossed pistols. A double-lined border has within it the words: "COLTS PATENT" and "PATENT ARMS MANg. Co PATERSON N.J." The factory serial number 175 does not associate it with a rifle or carbine with the same serial number. A rare item in excellent condition showing some original gilt inside.
